Overview / Who We Serve

Mission

We advance educational equity by building long-term partnerships with students, families, communities, and schools to cultivate experiences outside of school that inspire the joy of learning.

Vision

Our vision is a future in which every child thrives intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically.

Our Goals

By establishing strong bonds with our students, we strive to make every student feel valued and heard, building self-confidence and self-esteem, the foundation for pursuing a choice-filled life.

Our Programs

We offer a six-week summer enrichment program and year-round programming that focuses on the whole child through academic skill-building, social-emotional support, health and wellness activities, and much more. In communities where out-of-school time learning programs are not readily available, students receive approximately 6,000 hours of extra learning by the 6th grade.

Our Commitment

Students begin in kindergarten and stay through high school, building necessary life-skills along the way. We commit to offering small class sizes, mental health support, a blend of STEAM and literacy programming, engaging field trips, and leadership training within a project-based curriculum structure.

Student Success

Nationwide, 97% of Horizons graduates complete high school, and 91% enter post-secondary education, compared to 78.3% of low-income high school graduates as a whole.

Who We Serve

The 140 students we serve in grades K-9 discover the joy of learning, build confidence, acquire skills for success, and gain inspiration to achieve their dreams. Horizons at The Episcopal Academy students come from two partner schools – Overbrook Educational Center in West Philadelphia and Ardmore Avenue Elementary in Lansdowne, Delaware County.

Students begin their Horizons journey in Kindergarten, with additional entry opportunities in later grades as space allows. Once enrolled, they return each year through 8th grade and are then invited to continue in our high school program.
