Horizons 2023 Fundraiser

Dear "Taking the Reins for Horizons" Participants & Sponsors,

Thank you for your generous support of our “Taking the Reins for Horizons" event held last Friday at Radnor Hunt! It was incredible to see our Horizons community come together once again (despite the weather!) to support our amazing students.

During this year's event we heard about student speaker Mykel's Horizons journey from Kindergarten through 10th grade. We also celebrated Asha, our first Horizons high school graduate who will be attending Widener University in the Fall. We presented a service award to our longtime Horizons reading specialist, Jennifer Lutz, who has been an integral part of our Horizons family for the past 11 years. Our evening's program ended with a moving speech from Meredith Foote, Principal of Overbrook Educational Center, who shared stories of ways in which Horizons has impacted her students and how our program has been "the best thing to ever happen to their school." 

We are excited to report that we raised over $170,000 that will help our program in many ways, including:

  Providing additional Reading and Math specialists and a new math curriculum to help students overcome learning gaps related to the pandemic

  Support our school year Super Saturday and tutoring program

  Maintain our 5:1 teacher to student ratio and provide enrichment classes including Art, STEM, Language, swimming and field trips

  Support our High School program with college access programming and lifeguard certification opportunities
